It is 'premature' to bet on a cut to interest rates, Francois Villeroy de Galhau, France's central bank governor, told CNBC exclusively on Monday.

"We should remain at this level for a sufficiently long period of time," Francois Villeroy de Galhau, France's central bank governor, said about interest rates in the euro zone.A poll published by Reuters earlier this month showed that economists do not expect further rate hikes from the central bank this year and suggested that rate cuts could happen in the second half of 2024.
