While continuing to avoid direct comment on the president's withering criticism of central bank interest rate policy, Powell told '60 Minutes' that Trump can't remove him from office.

Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said in an interview aired Sunday that he does not think he can be fired by President Donald Trump.

"The law is clear that I have a four-year term, and I fully intend to serve it," Powell told the CBS news magazine show. Asked directly if he thought Trump could fire him, he said,"no." During that period, the U.S. saw its best economic gains of a recovery that began in mid-2009. GDP rose nearly 3 percent for the year, though most economists see that cooling off in the years ahead.

Powell said that the Fed, while likely on hold for a while, will be making its policy decisions based on the data and not on political considerations.

If he hired you he can fire you

the fed is a private company, a singularity among all private companies; imposible to remove and overrule desision made by the board of directors which is an anomaly in the American law !

Law is clear Trump can fire you at anytime

Do you want to bet?

Didn’t we hear Comey say that!

“Trump can’t fire me” So why did you cave?

Why do you always stir up BS. POTUS never said he wanted to fire fed chairman... your headlines always imply a non story!

Silver_Watchdog CNBC are such instigators with these click-bait-y headlines 😂

Just do as told by Trump like you are now and you won’t be fired. Just be a Trump Puppet like you have become and you’re safe

Firing Fed chairman- Section 10.2: “... unless sooner removed for cause by the President,” although “cause” is not defined. federalreserve

Incoming tweet storm! Duck and cover!

Very unusual to have a non-Jewish chair....truly uncharted waters.

He needs to reread that law. It says the President can remove any member of the board for cause. Also, as they are Senate confirmed positions, they are subject to impeachment / removal by Congress

Don’t just talk do whats right for the everyday americans.

Bottom line is you’re obviously concerned

Translation; growth is going to drop, but we don’t have enough room on rates to cut

femisapien_z 'You're fired!' Ooops! Not this time...

Fed has way too much power way too much! Very scary

Fed Chairman Powell Sees No Need to Change Rate PolicyFederal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said in a ‘60 Minutes’ interview that the U.S. economic outlook is favorable and that the economy doesn’t require higher or lower interest rates now. Because the fraudulent banks that run our federal reserves are still rich from the last crash they caused(and the crash before that and the crash before that) all the way back to the illegally passed FEDERAL RESERVE ACT by a few paid off dems,, screwing this country every since! he is wearing a dog collar and Wall Street has firm hold of leash. weakling He went from far away from neutral - talking about 6 or so rate hikes which caused the market volatility and retail sales to slow - to now we’re in a good place. This idiot has no credibility and we should be thankful he didn’t screw up anymore in the interview.
