A paedophile who was given a second chance by the court has been jailed after being caught with child porn for a second time.
On October 17 2022, the offender manager noticed the search history on Fregonese's phone had been erased, and became suspicious. Prosecutor Chris Taylor said: "During the visit officers checked the defendant's mobile phone in order to enforce the SHPO. The offender manager saw the search history only went back as far as October 2. That gave the offender manager cause for concern, partially because was prohibited from deleting his search history as part of his SHPO. The officer cautioned the defendant and asked him for an explanation to which he replied 'I don't know.
Paul Becker, defending, said Fregonese had "an unhealthy interest in children" and urged the judge to hand down a suspended sentence to allow the 34-year-old to address his issues with the help of probation. He said: "Custody is going to punish him, he will lose his liberty, it will be difficult for the defendant - an Italian national who speaks very little English... Prison obviously punishes him but doesn't address the problem in the longer term.
