The Education Department's budget would be significantly reduced under Trump's 2020 budget.

President Donald Trump's budget proposal unveiled on Monday would slash funding for the U.S. Education Department by more than 10 percent.

The budget eliminates subsidized student debt, in which interest doesn't accrue on the loans while borrowers are in school or in economic hardship. It also reduces the number of repayment plans for borrowers and scratches the popular, if challenged, public service loan forgiveness program. The plan would narrow the numerous income-driven repayment plans, which caps people's bills at a percentage of their income, to just one. Under that option, students' monthly payments would be limited to 12.5 percent of their discretionary income, compared with 10 percent now.

Good. Don’t make a financial commitment and then look to someone else to cover it for you

If student loan money dries up, the demand for higher education will be lower, prices will fall. China and the EU will surpass US in education. Great (sarcasm).

If can't pay your home loan they kick your happy ass out... don't borrow what u can't pay back...

End it! If a person takes a loan for something they should be held accountable for that loan! Adult choices. if someone wants to receive higher education there are many ways to get it with hard work. Military, scholarships, grants ... people shouldn’t be given debt forgiveness.

The Department of Education needs their budget cut. We keep spending more and more money and the education system keeps getting worse. Cut some funding, investigate and prosecute all the fraud, and revamp the entire system.

Would exacerbate a $1.3 trillion problem that has already stifled Millenial spending.

Yes, it is time for the people for decades defaulting on student loans. If they can't pay it back then maybe a mandatory service back to the state or something like the peace corp or military. No more free rides. be serious about education and complete it.

Student loan debt is a middle class killer!

You Trump Base voters, should see this guy is all in, for the upper 1%...

Trump stiffs his contractors why can’t students stiff the feds.

So they have to repay the loans they agreed to.......good

Yes borrow money and don’t pay it back.. solid plan! Liberalism

He should get rid of the department of education entirely and pump the money into student loan forgiveness. Bringing down that debt level would have a massive stimulative effect on the economy. realDonaldTrump DonaldJTrumpJr TrumpBudget

End the student loan program altogether.

So much empathy ...

Chancellor D. Trump the face of hate.

He’s such a terrible person. How the hell do some people not see this
