A federal judge has ruled that the Justice Department must disclose the name of a former U.S. attorney who had an extramarital affair with a supervisor in the same office

.in response to a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit brought by BuzzFeed, demanding further details about a somewhat-vague statement the Justice Department’s Office of Inspector General issued on the case in May 2017.

“The wrongdoing at issue here clearly implicated the core responsibilities of the U.S. Attorney as the chief federal law enforcement officer and head of his judicial district,” the judge wrote. “Among those responsibilities was the supervising, management, and operation of his district. The consequences of the wrongdoing directly impacted the work environment of the Office. Indeed, the actions of the U.S.

Broderick said that while the misconduct at issue was personal in nature, it had a professional impact that the public deserves to know more about, including an impact on bonuses and disciplinary actions.
