The Department for Work and Pensions has announced a change to the payment window for the final instalment of the £900 cost of living lump sum that will see millions of people get money earlier next year.
Later this month, an estimated eight million people will get the second instalment of £300. It will be sent out between October 31 and November 19.In a a new update, the DWP said the final £299 payment is now due "by spring 2024" and and not "Spring 2024". This could mean the payment arrives before the start of March - depending on which definition of Spring the DWP is referring to.
The revised timeframe comes as the DWP said it was reviewing this year's Cost of Living payments to see if any more may be needed. Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is expected to indicate what, if anything, has been decided when he delivers the Autumn Statement on November 22.
