Speaking in Canberra on Wednesday, Arthur Culvahouse said the President Trump's schedule was still being negotiated but did expect 'a number of very senior administration officials' to visit Australia this year.

The incoming United States ambassador has dampened expectations of Donald Trump coming to Australia in the near future, saying the president 'has a busy schedule'.

Speaking in Canberra on Wednesday, Arthur Culvahouse said the president's schedule was still being negotiated but did expect 'a number of very senior administration officials' to visit Australia this year. Ambassador Culvahouse has also ramped up pressure on China in the region adding his voice to concerns by Mike Pence about debt trap diplomacy in the Pacific.
