Those of us who have worked in education for a long time know that schools need a full year under a new rating system to give an accurate picture of performance and growth. In the interest of what is truly right for our students, the school districts that serve them and our communities, the state should have set the new A-F criteria a year in advance. Because they had no other recourse, school districts acted appropriately by filing the A-F accountability lawsuit.
