Andre Trindade has opened up on his decision to stay at Fluminense for the rest of the year after significant summer transfer interest from Liverpool

Fluminense midfielder Andre has revealed he turned down the chance to secure a transfer move during the summer window amid speculation surrounding Liverpool.

The ECHO have previously reported Liverpool's interest in Andre, which comprised of discussions with Fluminense in early August over their defensive midfielder. The Reds quietly retreated and direct their energies towards Wataru Endo once it emerged the Brazilian side wouldn't entertain an exit until they were eliminated from the Copa Libertadores.

“I think that if I've accepted that offer, I don't know if I'd feel 100% comfortable with myself because I gave my word to Diniz , and he values the word a lot,” added Andre. “In January he told me that, 100% sure, if I stayed, I'd play and my value would grow.”
