Newcastle United consider Amadou Onana as a midfield signing after Sandro Tonali's ban. Andre Gomes also mentioned as a potential loan replacement. Everton to face West Ham United with a tribute to late chairman Bill Kenwright. Reports suggest Everton could face a 12-point penalty for financial breach.

Everton's Amadou Onana was suggested as a potential midfield signing for Newcastle United, who now have a problem to solve after Sandro Tonali's 10-month ban from football for breaches of gambling rules has been ratified by FIFA. Out-of-favour Andre Gomes has also been mentioned in the conversation for potential loan replacements.

The ex-Everton forward, who has been linked with becoming the Everton boss on more than one occasion during the last year, lost his first match in charge againt Middlesbrough and suffered a similar fate against Hull City earlier this week. The 19-year-old striker has been at Goodison Park since his £1m transfer from Sunderland in 2021. His current deal is set to expire in the summer but it appears Blues chiefs are making sure it does not come to that by working on an extension way in advance.

"I just have a sneaky feeling that Everton are going to get something, especially with Dominic Calvert-Lewin fit and looking sharp. "I think West Ham are going through an iffy patch of form and they’ll prioritise this game. I think it’ll be quite close, but I’m going West Ham to win it 2-1."Jarrod Bowen of West Ham United in action with James Tarkowski of Everton during the Premier League match between West Ham United and Everton FC at London StadiumFormer Liverpool and Real Madrid player Steve McManaman has told Kalvin Phillips he must force through an exit from Manchester City in January.

Sticking with the on-field action though, the boss interestingly revealed talks with PGMOL chief Howard Webb over last week's Merseyside derby, his options at full-back and the prospect of facing David Moyes. As a decision looms on Everton's Premier League Financial Fair Play case, Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish was asked for his thoughts on the matter.

It also poses the question what will Newcastle do? They clearly have other fine midfield options, but the timing leaves just enough room to ponder dipping into the transfer market in January., earlier in the week they reported two Blues as potential signings for Howe. The first was Amadou Onana, who despite his high promise could be forced out of Goodison Park if the funds are required to ease financial tensions.
