The Bank of England will announce its Interest Rate Decision on Thursday, March 21 at 12:00 GMT and as we get closer to the release time, here are the expectations forecast by the economists and researchers of seven major banks. The BoE is widely expected to leave interest rates unchanged at 5.25% for the fifth time in a row. Investors will look for cues about when the BoE will start reducing interest rates. Rabobank We anticipate that the BoE will hold the rate at 5.25%.
Watering down that language would be seen as tantamount to opening the door to an imminent rate cut, something we doubt the committee wants to do. The more interesting question is whether the two hawks who voted for a rate hike in February finally throw in the towel, though we wouldn’t be surprised if at least one of them doesn’t. At the same time, we don’t expect lone dove Swati Dhingra to be joined by other members in voting for a rate cut this month.
