Around 5.5 million families who claim Universal Credit will see a boost to their payments from next week. This is because Universal Credit is increasing by 6.7% in line with inflation.
A statement from the DWP later confirmed: ‘In 2024/25, around 5.5 million Universal Credit families are forecast to benefit from uprating.’ When exactly will I see the Universal Credit increase? If you claim Universal Credit, you will start to see changes in your payments from 8 April.How much will I get? Speaking in the Autumn Statement, Jeremy Hunt said the change would be an ‘average increase of £470 for 5.5 million households’ per year. This amounts to around £39 extra per month.
