A man is dead after a single-vehicle collision in Port Credit early Saturday morning.

Police say that the vehicle was headed eastbound on Lakeshore Road near Stavebank Road at around 2:25 a.m. when it mounted a curb and slammed into multiple light standards before hitting a building.

While the circumstances surrounding the collision remain unclear, police confirm that they are investigating speed as a possible factor.

Why must you show pictures of accidents? Imagine being a family member of the driver having to see this? 😖

Any reports on the make and year of the car? Jesus

It sounds like it possibly may have been a suicide! Whatever the cause, I am sure that the cops will do a thorough background investigation on this individual. I find it surprising that a 38 year old would drive at such a high rate of speed. Luckily no other fatalities

Thinned the herd I guess. Selfish and thoughtless.

He must have been speeding! That street is near the entrance to the Port Credit Ice Arena

Most fatal accident involved speeding. If guys want to speed, go to the race circuit and drive safely there!

There is no need for a car that can do 150 KMH on our roads.

I have a very important question: Why don't law makers create a law which makes it illegal for any vehicle to go over 100 KMH? Install blocks so the car can't go faster. It will save lives. Make penalties for impaired driving super high. Then watch the idiots justify it.

200 Km/h?! Dude must have been trying to go back in time!

speed kills

Feel for the first responders, thanks for doin what u do , I know I couldn't. Thoughts are with the family of this person as well.

Wow...how fast was that dude going...

SLOW DOWN PEOPLE!!!

Looks like an SUV from that front piece. SUVs and speed do not go well together. Luckily he didn't kill anyone else. Terrible news for the family to wake up to.

Seen this live... scary stuff.

Speed and stupidity stupidity and speed..

Condolences to this person’s family. Not the news anyone would want to hear

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes

oh wow frig what a mess

Spoiler alert: they were going too fast. 😐

Man dead after single-vehicle crash in Port CreditA man is dead after a single-vehicle collision in Port Credit early Saturday morning. Bloody hell! Can’t believe the reporter just said ‘he believes speed was a factor’ thanks for that insight. Obviously didn't care how many he killed!! That's sad. I didn't use my CIBC account recently. A $3 surcharge was a deterrent. There is no free chewing for accounts with over a thousand dollars. It starts at $3,000.00 in Peterborough. Theft in Landsdowne Place free standing bank. That's just wrong. They use client's cash.
