The DWP has confirmed that from this week, all Universal Credit claimants will receive a cash boost to their benefits in the new tax year, with eligible recipients receiving up to £465 more

Universal Credit recipients are set to receive a new £465 boost from the Department for Work and Pensions , resulting in an annual handout of £7,411.20. This comes as a relief for those on low incomes, including full-time workers who still claim benefits, as rising costs of living and council tax, water, mobile and TV bills continue to put pressure on their finances.

The DWP has confirmed that the enhanced benefits payment commences from April 8, according to Leeds Live. The Secretary of State for Work and Pensions is required to annually review benefit levels. Benefits and tax credits, which are linked to inflation, are set to receive a significant increase of 6.7% from April 2024, reflecting the Consumer Prices Index rate of inflation recorded in September 2023, reports the Mirror.
