High school students are taking control of their financial future, thanks to a credit union that’s operated by other students! Jon Hamby-Lattimore, the branch manager for War Eagle Credit Union, says what they do enables students at Davie County High School in Mocksville, North Carolina, to take those first steps toward financial literacy.'They have the option of opening a checking account a savings account, making deposits, withdrawals, just managing their funds,' said Lattimore.

'I don't think it's taught in school very often,' said Bentley Moody. 'You know, how to have your own account and be financially independent as a high schooler. So I think it's a great opportunity for everyone.'Moody and his classmate Taha Guver are interns who work in the credit union and are members themselves. Both of them say it’s given them confidence.'Just being able to run it on my own,' he said.
