"Everybody is terrified. Everybody is scared," an employee at one of the businesses where the footage was captured told NBC 5. The employee wished to remain anonymous for safety concerns."I did hear one of the cops say, 'This might be our guy,' so that made me think they got the footage that they needed," the employee said.
Authorities said after touring the area, officers discovered an off-duty Chicago police officer with gunshot wounds in the 3100 block of West 56th Street.“The ShotSpotter notification went out before the first 911 call came out,” he said. “That helped us locate and find him.” Police are investigating the circumstances of the shooting, including whether the incident began as a carjacking, according to officials.
