Bill Shorten will throw out up to $143 billion worth of Scott Morrison's planned income tax cuts | swrighteconomy

A person on $37,000 would get $350 when they complete their tax return after July 1 under Labor compared to the $255 being promised by Mr Morrison. Someone on $40,000 would get $549 compared to the government's $480.

However, the opposition is also debating whether it is better to use some of the slated cost of the Coalition's tax plan to instead pay down government debt, which current stands at $534 billion and is projected to increase to $585 billion by 2022. Professor of Finance at the University of Western Australia, Raymond da Silva Rosa, said the Coalition's changes to the tax system could deliver substantial benefits to workers.

"I think there are benefits in flattening the tax scales, there are definitely incentives there for people who may have spent a large amount on education before going into the workforce and they're looking to be rewarded and that happens with the broader tax rate."

swrighteconomy just trying to buy his way in

swrighteconomy Given this is most likely the budget Australia will actually have, wouldn’t a responsible news organisation focus on it in detail - certainly more detail than the phantom never-to-be-used one we heard on Tuesday night.

swrighteconomy Gutter press

swrighteconomy Shame on you for not covering the budget reply in detail and on the front page. One of the most visionary, and deeply compassionate in history. This is huge news and all you cover is the rejection of tax cuts for people earning $200,000. Biased reporting!

swrighteconomy Taxes are what create a fair and progressive society. Cutting taxes to buy votes while slashing services is just smoke and mirrors.

Only Labor has a concrete, practical plan to get wages moving again - one, if Labor win the election, Labor will legislate to restore the arbitrary cuts to Sunday and public penalty rates in our first 100 days... - billshortenmp auspol budget19 Excellent!
