Happy Wednesday. It is always a brighter day after a Jays win. It would be nice to get to three in a row today. Today in rumours I didn’t expect: McMahon plays third base, very good defensively, and has played all over the infield in his career. He’s 29 and is under contract through the 2027 season. This year he is hitting .286/.366/.483 with 10 home runs and a 1.8 bWAR already this year. A nice step up from last year’s .240/.322/.431 with 23 home runs and a 2.9 bWAR.
I figured the Jays would be sellers, not buyers, and with years of control left, I would think the price for McMahon would be high. I can’t see the point of trading away a bunch of prospects. But then, he is a guy that could help. I don’t see him as someone who could push us over the top this year. Shi Davidi has a post up touching on a few Jays’ topics. Keegan Matheson writes about Isiah Kiner-Falefa, who has been much better than any of us expected. I’m still not a fan of the signing.
