Former Preston North End defender Calvin Ramsay has been handed the chance to kick-start his career at Wigan Athletic next season. Liverpool have confirmed the 20-year-old will spend the 2024-25 campaign with the Latics after two frustrating loans spells last term. The Lilywhites announced the Scot’s Deepdale arrival on similar terms last June. However, it was not until November that North End fans saw him in action after the right-back picked up a knee injury in pre-season.
A loan move to League One promotion-chasers Bolton was arranged during the January transfer window. But just like his Preston spell, Ramsay’s game time at the Toughsheet Community Stadium was limited as he made just four appearances. Speaking to Wigan’s website after completing his move, Ramsay said: ‘I am over the moon. It happened quickly and I met the manager two weeks ago. ‘I had a really good conversation, and there was an instant connection. I’m excited for the start of the season.
