KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has defended the government’s move to give out RM6.2bil in aid to the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) following a negative credit rating by Moody’s.

Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has defended the government’s move to give out RM6.2bil in aid to the Federal Land Development Authority following a negative credit rating by Moody’s.

“This is strange because we actually have saved the government a lot of money through all this, solving the problems of the East Coast Rail Link, Felda, Lembaga Tabung Haji and now Bandar Malaysia," he added. “Now we are trying to solve these problems, but we are told it is the wrong move,” he said in a press conference at Yayasan Al-Bukhary near here Friday .

Dr Mahathir also said the plan was to combine all the estates and have it run on a larger scale by professionals.
