Why not? The cathedral was built over centuries with different architectural styles, reflecting the times. It can now too. Future generations should see its history reflected and the fire is now part of its history.

Why not just leave it as is, a modern ruin? Tourists will still flock to go there and take their selfies and make their stories and what not. Gotta admit, it's much more interesting now. But if not, they gotta rebuild it with a twist that reflects the century it was rebuilt in.

I don’t see why not. The last one wasn’t 12th Century like much of the Cathedral as it was added in the mid 19th Century (1800’s) but if they want to fully restore Notre Dame then the spire should be left off so that the Cathedral looks like it was originally intended to look.

Macron is even dummer when he gets an opportunity to show off, such a monument as Notre-Dame is to be rebuilt as it was, because it was perfect, can't be improved. And it must be payed by the way of taxes, and if the billionaires want to help, let, make, them their taxes.
It should be flattened or left as a ruin and the money put to better use. Ridiculous spending so much on a building when there is such poverty in Paris. Replace it with a hospital or houses.
