The Jigawa State government has debunked rumours that its newly introduced Agricultural loan to workers was aimed at subjecting workers to interest. Technical Advisor on Agriculture for the state Governor, Dr Saifullahi Umar stated this while reacting to claims circulating on social media that the programme is interest-bearing.

Dr Umar while clarifying the situation, said the state government considered the current food prices inflation, limited resources and access to agricultural inputs, saying, 'This is to inform the general public that, the Jigawa workers Agricultural support programme is a non-interest bearing agricultural inputs loan for Jigawa State Government and local government employees design to help them achieve food security.
