The Friedkin Group has paid off Everton's debt to MSP Sports Capital as talks with Farhad Moshiri continue

The prospective new owners of Everton have already overcome the challenge that prevented 777 Partners from completing its takeover of the club.

That payment to MSP, which has also had designs on a stake in Everton at different points over the past 12 months, was one of four conditions the Premier League said 777 Partners needed to meet in order to get its takeover signed off. But it failed to find the cash, leading to the collapse of its deal and paving the way for Moshiri to listen to new bidders for the club.

Everton have been in this position before - the 777 Partners deal that ran for almost nine months was the third time talks had reached this stage during Moshiri’s two year search for an exit from Goodison Park.
