“They change them all the time,” McMurren said. “The credit card change ... that is for new credit Alaska Airlines credit card holders. In other words, if you get a new card, in order to retain that companion fare benefit — which is a really good one — you have to spend at least $6,000 a year.” The new $6,000 annual minimum spending on Alaska Airline’s Visa card applies only to new card applications, McMurren explained, adding that existing cards are essentially grandfathered in.
