Former Liverpool winger Philippe Coutinho is on the verge of sealing a sensational return to Vasco da Gama after agreeing to a substantial salary cut to leave Aston Villa.
He spent last season on loan at Qatar Stars League side Al-Duhail, scoring eight goals and adding three assists in 23 appearances. And now, Coutinho is set for a permanent exit from Villa with the club expected to terminate his contract to allow him to move to Vasco da Gama in Brazil, according to Globo.
He immediately cemented his place as an integral member of the Reds side, and almost helped them win the Premier League during his first full season, scoring five goals and providing seven assists in 33 matches. His numbers slowly started to improve as years went on, however.
