The Scottish Greens reiterated their opposition to nuclear energy.

Scottish Green co-leader Lorna Slater said Scots will be paying the price for Hinkley Point C for decades

Co-leader Lorna Slater also hit out at comments from Labour leader Sir Keir Starmer, who said the sector will be a “critical part” of his energy plan. The Green co-leader also hit out at the management of the construction of Hinkley Point C on the south coast of England, where delays and cost overruns have spiralled.

“Even though Hinkley is on the south coast of England, Scottish households will be paying for this travesty for decades. “The Tory and Labour nuclear fantasies will do nothing for our climate and will leave future generations with a costly and dangerous legacy to clean up,” Ms Slater added.“The huge sums of money being wasted on nuclear energy could be far better spent on rapidly expanding our green industries, delivering 100% renewable energy and investing in the jobs of the future.”
