The Spokesperson of the Coalition of a group of House of Representatives members known as the G60 lawmakers, Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere has called on the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egberokun to stop aiding the FCT minister Nyesom Wike to fight Rivers people.

“Why has the IGP not arrested those who carried dynamite during a peaceful protest against pro-Wike supporters? Why is the IGP showing support for the FCT minister by not calling to order those breaking laws and order in the state because one man told them to? He further explained that the Appeal Court didn’t void the declaration of the seat of 27 Pro-Wike sacked lawmakers vacant.

The litigants, in their suit, contended that Amaewhule and the other defected lawmakers ceased to be members of the Rivers State House of Assembly on December 13, 2023, when their seats were declared vacant. While upholding the case of the plaintiffs, Justice Wali barred the pro-Wike lawmakers from accessing the Assembly complex or carrying out any legislative assignment in the name of the Rivers State House of Assembly.

He further stressed that the legal fireworks continue, as the declaration of the vacant seats is still valid and subject to pending litigation.
