Here's who would benefit from Sen. Elizabeth Warren's proposal to cancel student debt

The Massachusetts senator outlined her proposal inon Monday. "I'm calling for something truly transformational — the cancellation of up to $50,000 in student loan debt for 42 million Americans," she wrote.

Borrowers need not apply for the relief: The government would automatically cancel the debt of eligible borrowers, using already available income and loan data. People who earn between $100,000 and $250,000 would be eligible for less forgiveness. For example, Warren writes, "a person with household income of $130,000 gets $40,000 in cancellation, while a person with household income of $160,000 gets $30,000 in cancellation."The researchers of the analysis also found that Warren's proposal would reduce the racial wealth gap.

This is way more effective than tax cuts, because you’re directly stimulating long term demand.

Mortgage payments are hindering the middle class participation in the economy. We should forgive all outstanding mortgage debt. Throw in credit card debt also.

better yet just give every legal US citizen 100k and let them do what they want with it...LEGAL U S CITIZENS ONLY...who has WORKED!

My husband I got married early and did well, we wouldn't qualify and I imagine most young married couples wouldn't either. 'What if states decide not to “partner?” 'Would they be punished by the feds?' They could do what they want, no money from the Feds. Why look to the UK for free college? In the 60s, college costs in the USA were nominal. U. Cal. was under $1k.
