's rules allow industrial polluters to use carbon credits to pay for the previous year's emissions, or trade them to raise money.'Responsive and supportive'
Private equity firm Greybull Capital rescued Tata Steel's long products business - which makes steel for the rail and construction sectors - during the depths of the steel crisis in 2016, saving more than 4,000 jobs.
More bullying and anti brexit shenanigans from the EU.
So how much did they actually invest in these assets? Anywhere close to 400mm
Who does that money go to? What do they do with it? If it's the regulators then surely they have an incentive to just keep fiddling limits to collect more funds.
bailout using tax payers money! yet nothing spent on things people need this government only serves themselves
Not really a loan is it, they wont get it back..
Whilst Tata steel makes all the profit from British contracts
Does Chinese steel pay carbon tax?
This is bonkers
More ineptitude from 10DowningStreet Had we left the EU on 29th March as promised (anyone remember Brexit means Brexit? No deal is better than a bad deal) the payment would not have been necessary. Add it to the bill for which the useless May is responsible.
The 'green' economy will kill ya.
Sounds like a going out of business sale is next. There’s a little irony here since steel is made by adding carbon to iron. (Oops there’s a pun, too)
Wtf
Owned by a French Company are they not? EU will say no!
Why do we have to pay it? Genuine question
So instead of reducing emissions, firms can pay the EU; why the EU, what happens to the money, do Chinese firms have this nobbling?
£100million just like that the government are able too produce, that magic money tree
The earth is greening due to an increase of CO2, photosynthesis can't be a bad thing, surely?
The EU wants us to have breathable air? No wonder we voted Brexit
MccarthChase So we couldn't bail out the steel works for jobs but to pay a bill not an issue?
Wow
EU steals another £100m then?
Giving that money making tree a good shake are we!!
So how long will that take to repay!!! Also was the tax payer asked!!😡😡
Tell the EU to GTF!
More like a taxpayer loan
You couldn’t write it what a piss take
Just shows what a complete bunch of arseholes we are dealing with get us gone ASAP
Good. Seems to be standard practice in many other countries for governments to step in and help businesses when necessary. If it happens here there’ll no doubt be Remainers saying it’s a sign Brexit is a disaster and others saying protecting the environment is costing the earth.
Going well this, isn't it?
Where did they magic that money from?
Let's destroy our fragile heavy industries with taxes that don't apply to competitors shall we..?
Seriously the country pays for their faults
Why
Get a new mobile phone.
And the Brexit bill just gets bigger and bigger...
Will never be repaid
Interesting
