Her payments ranged between 25 to 40 percent of her income, she says, depending on how much she was making at the time.

“Being good with your money is a lifelong thing,” says Chan, “but even if I won the lottery tomorrow, if I wasn’t good with my money that would be gone in about a year.”Go through your stuff, figure out what you can get rid of, what’s costing you money, and what you can sell.Cook your meals at home and give yourself a small allowance for entertainment and eating out.Six categories with one broad category for spending will keep things simple.

BETTER She had to sell everything she owned to pay off her student loans and you think this is an uplifting story? The way others should behave?

BETTER So it can be done . Seems it’s no different than paying off a new car .

BETTER This is just gross. Why would you participate in beating down our young adults with this crap? Where is your finger wagging at the universities and predatory loan practices?

BETTER Paying off $50k in 30 months means paying about $1700 a month, not including the interest. So on a 6.5% loan, probably closer to about $2000 a month. You have to be making a good salary to be able to afford an extra $2k a month, no matter how much you scrimp.

BETTER People get into debt sometimes living outside your means, you just need to learn how to shop

BETTER Conveniently no mention of her income...

BETTER

BETTER Let me guess, her parents helped and she makes six figures?

BETTER The majority of Americans are already using minimalism just to survive.

BETTER Or maybe college can just stop costing so much.

BETTER she weighs 80 lbs and eats pens . no thanks

BETTER I didn't see her income in there, very cool nbc

BETTER

BETTER It’s easy when you have a law degree and making money. How about those of us who live paycheck to paycheck? These types of articles are crap.

BETTER DarioJukic_

BETTER Imagine if she'd attended a community college... She'd be $50,000 ahead of the game instead of even.

BETTER Now tell me how i can do the same for a $150,000 loan? Stop eating?
