The Ontario Premier says he didn’t want to scrap the line but had to do so after getting 400 to 500 calls a day, as well as harassing text messages

Premier Doug Ford says it was “heartbreaking” to have to cancel his cellphone after the line was flooded by calls from special interest groups.

Ford – who routinely handed out his number to the public – says one person texted him saying he hoped the premier would die of cancer like his brother, the late Toronto mayor Rob Ford. The premier discussed the decision to cancel the line during a call to a Toronto talk radio show today.

To him, anyone not right wing conservative is a special interest group

Well what an idiot for handing out his to so many people... what did he think would happen... oh yeah... this guy doesn’t think...

Doug Ford is the 1% and thinks the rest of us are lazy if we’re not. I’am a 58 year old woman who makes minimum wage, I work hard and you cancelled us getting an extra dollar an hour. Share holders squeeze every cent out of their employees.

Idiot

Premier , if cancelling your work cell phone , which you didn’t pay for yourself , is considered heartbreaking, then you must live an idyllic life.

And it was heartbreaking for me to hang up on Ontario Proud.

I guess one too many people called to tell you off!

Heartbreaking is questionable heartwarming would be if you resigned

We are worried about the reduction of hospital beds and health care staff in Kingston. We have a regional hospital, with a very large catchment area in Eastern Ontario. With an aging population, a ticking time bomb.

Now for a corporate only interests line. Scheer can hook you up with that

Heartbreaking? Here’s what’s heartbreaking, fordnation - Cancelling treatment & protection for children; cancelling education options & OSAP; cancelling access to legal council; cancelling ODSP access & most of all, having you as premier. Wake up, would you? FordIsFailing

Good heading Globe. Nice clickbait. But this time it's not a complaint. Bury ford every chance you get.

.fordnation is canceled.

Surprised it lasted this long Someone in his office must have known that certain individuals and groups would use the access to bully him The same thing takes place online every day

Boo hoo

We sure do not need Ford’s buddy, Scheer to damage and make a mockery of the whole Country.

.....whatever!

If he stopped calling them they wouldn't have his number

It's 'heartbreaking' for me to have a Premier who calls citizens of our province 'special interest groups'

Boohoo

Doesn't one first need a heart for something to be heartbreaking? onpoli

Heartbreaking - kids who no long have access to services for autism; kids in schools with less teachers and run down buildings that are too hot; environmental services cut; legal aid cuts; family services cuts; healthcare cuts. You, DoFo, are breaking our province.

Cancelling a cellphone is not heartbreaking. Not being able to afford treatment for an autistic child is heartbreaking. fordnation

It was never very realistic to give out a cell number in lieu of actually governing. If even 1% of the population of Ontario reached out to him via cell over the course of 1 year, that's one call every 3 m 45 s, or 16 calls an hour, on average, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

You have to start wearing hip waders when Ford talks. Maybe carry a shovel to.

In other words he doesn't want to hear people who object to his crap policies - 'special interests' means simple people who are personally impacted by his cuts & 'efficiencies' - you know, sick people who need medical attention, parents who need help with an autistic child

'How many times I got to tell you, ... I don't sell anymore.' When you're RYdrifting

Yeah. So sad. Those were the people you pretend to be for.

And by 'special interest groups' he means Ontarians who don't like him or his party.

Heartbreaking is acknowledging early intervention is the best practise for future success in children with asd & having your government not only take away that funding for therapy completely but then turning the public perception on said vulnerable children to pigs at the trough

His brother Rob used to give out his personal number to his constituents as well. LiberalsRuinEverything

So...special interest groups, like people? fordnation ForThePeopleMyAss

FordNation, if you take services away from people who desperately need them, those people aren't 'special interest groups.' They are the citizens of Ontario who are royally pissed off with your cold-hearted negligence. Stick to label-making. Onpoli OntarioPCParty.

Heartbreaking? Hardly. Heartbreaking is the stories we’ve been hearing from parents for months about the horrible consequences of frozen wait lists and cuts to funding for families of children with autism.

Hahaha - heartbreaking - anothet blast of laughter

Please, don't report this as fact unless you have confirmed he was actually overwhelmed with calls from these groups.

It's 'heartbreaking' for many of our most vulnerable citizens in Ontario lose services and funding because of fordnation, so please compare that cell phone loss, Doug. You're shameless.

Doug Ford cancels cell phone after too many unsolicited calls from ‘special interest groups’Ontario’s premier has given out his cell number for months and has long touted it as a way for people to contact him directly to many people complaining about the Heinous job the Tories under him (DougFord) are doing I love when the internet is used for good. I am surprised it took this long Good intentions or not someone in his office must have considered the fact that certain groups would use it to bully him. No different than what takes place online every single day
