President Donald Trump, who appeared to be considering background checks and other gun policy reform, has backed away from the topic and is now openly discussing"red flag" legislation instead.
Shortly after the deadly mass shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, this month, the president told reporters he would consider backing more stringent background checks. Antonio Basco, who's wife Margie Reckard was one of 22 persons killed by a gunman at a local Walmart, lays flowers in her honor at a makeshift memorial near the scene on August 16, 2019 in El Paso, Texas.Still, some Republicans and the NRA think the president is doing too much. Earlier this week, the president tweeted that CNN host Chris Cuomo was unwell because he yelled at a heckler who referred to him as"Fredo," which he took as an Italian slur.
After talking it over with NRA . He goes back to GOP way. Same thing he did when he talked with the School Shooting Survivors.
Well, in his defense—he IS on vacation.
Two weeks for realDonaldTrump to abandon a promise, not based in hate, may be a record for him. 🙄
