The Liberal party’s campaign platform, released Sunday, is a calculated bet based on age, apathy and ignorance. The party is betting that enough people have forgotten the fiscal crisis of the mid-1990s, or were either too young to remember or not in Canada at the time, to vote for a party willing to risk setting a second crisis in motion.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was 24 when the crisis peaked. Perhaps it’s another part of the “massive blind spot” he says he was suffering at the time that prevents him appreciating the dangerous path he’s setting the country on. The Trudeau platform calls for a sharp increase in deficits over the life of its hoped-for second mandate, stretching into the future with no firm end point in mind.
What’s more noteworthy than just the numbers involved in the Trudeau plan is the justification: Ottawa needs to continue spending more than it brings in to meet the needs of Canadians. That was the same reason for the first round of deficits.
This is important- we need to be fiscally responsible... I hope people are listening!
We've heard this before, Kelly, but Canada still has a triple-A credit rating! You might be worried, but the guys/gals who count are not.
It never bothered a conservative government in my lifetime. Sure, they talk about it a lot, but they’ve never walked any of that talk.
Not to worry I am sure he will find a way to transfer it to the rest of Canadians just as he did with his so called 'apology' during which he took no responsibility whatsoever
