With a R9bn debt overhang, SA’s smallest mobile operator says it remains focused on its turnaround strategy

“Cell C remains focused on its turnaround strategy, which includes ensuring operational efficiencies, restructuring its balance sheet, implementing a revised network strategy and improving overall liquidity,” the company said in an e-mail. Following media reports on the conclusion of the agreement suggesting that it does not require any regulatory approval, the Independent Communications Authority of SA said it had requested both operators to provide it all the agreements and associated information on the roaming deal “for review and to assess compliance with the applicable law and regulations”.
