The CRTC has refused a request by Telus Corp. to add a credit card processing fee on certain services.

The federal telecommunications regulator says the request applied to services that it regulates, generally home telephone services in certain smaller communities.

Earlier this year businesses secured the right to add a surcharge, which they must clearly disclose, to credit card transactions as part of a class-action lawsuit against MasterCard, Visa and Canadian banks. The CRTC says while Telus didn't need its approval to add the surcharge to the unregulated services, it is concerned about the practice as it goes against affordability and consumer interest.

Times are getting harder, I will be adding fees to all credit card purchases, and I will increase tgat fee every other week at my stores

Where is the promised reduction to some of the globes highest cell rates?

Good

Abandon these aholes Telus.

Good. Cheap fks.

Service charges like that should never be allowed. Looking at you Cineplex.

Good…billion dollar companies should not be allowed to do this shit

how much is the processing fee now .. it used to be $2 for CC then was raised when we had to go to card payment

Yeah, well paid my bill this morning and there was a 1.5% charge if using a credit card. So……..thanks Telus for waiting for the answer to the request.

Seems to me these 'visa fees' are a tax write off for companies, so come right off the top of their income. So what are they complaining about

It wouldn't have worked for TELUS anyway, unless Rogers and Bell had copied them.

As if the already existing prices of their services are not enough!

Poor them, 2021 35% increase in net income! 'Full year consolidated Operating Revenue, Net Income, and Adjusted EBITDA up 9.8 per cent, 35 per cent, and 6.4 per cent, respectively, alongside record 960,000 net customer additions'

If they want people to start sending them cheques again, that can be arranged. Then they can deal with the costs associated with handling all that mail and processing the cheques.

Yes Jesus!!!!

Guess we going back to cash to pay bills.

Good
