House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said Sunday he is looking forward to discussing with President Joe Biden a “reasonable and responsible way that we can lift the debt ceiling ”

Biden himself has scoffed at the idea of negotiating spending cuts, that Republicans were “genuinely serious about cutting Social Security, cutting Medicare.”

On Sunday, when McCarthy was asked if he would push cuts to those programs, he said, “Let’s take those off the table.” Pressed on possible defense cuts that he may have promised to House conservatives, McCarthy responded: “I want to eliminate waste wherever it is. … I want to look at every single department.

McCarthy pointed to Biden’s previous experience in trying to negotiate spending cuts and said he’s hopeful the president will be open to listening again. In an Associated Press interview last weekend, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said she expected Congress would ultimately vote to raise the limit. But she said GOP demands for spending cuts in return for backing an increase were “a very irresponsible thing to do” and risk creating a “self-imposed calamity” for the global economy.

Is he bringing someone reasonable and responsible with him to work with the president?

This seems like a bandaid more than a fix.

Here is the truth about what is happening here ,is the fact that they want a cut into the whole covid scheme , trust me once it happens covid will last forever ,more politicians will allow it for profit

Republicans are not good listeners, however they excel at babbling.

House speaker is nothing but a waste of air…

So OBiden can send more money to Ukraine!

No, you just raise the limit Kevin. It's just that simple.

Reasonable? Pffft!

Cut the Defense budget by 7.5% next fiscal year and 8.5% in the next year. Suspend tax cuts for the wealthy In return, Democrats agree to raise the age for Social Security, and find a way to ensure that even workers making less than $10K pay some Federal tax.

By how much in total are Biden and McCarthy expected to lift the debt ceiling at their meeting on Wednesday, the day the Fed will announce its interest rate decision?

McCarthy is the poster boy for fasxist America. Republican Americans are the enemies of the free world. Betrayed NATO and allied with Putin.

Have economists misunderstood inflation?John Cochrane argues that fiscal theory can explain both the period of low inflation and the return of rapidly rising prices after the pandemic. But it offers limited guidance to policymakers beyond what is already well-known Hindsight is so much better than prediction. Stop paying people to stay at home and be non-productive. This round of inflation was Kicked off by Biden canceling Keystone Pipeline. The administration’s energy policies caused this. Transportation costs are energy dependent. All vehicles run on oil including Tesla cars. Tires are made of oil .
