The Philadelphia Phillies' GM said teams called to gauge his interest in their veteran catchers after a recent injury to his own starting backstop.

Philadelphia Phillies general manager Dave Dombrowski has practically seen it all in a career as an executive that is in its fifth decade. He's led the baseball operations departments of the Montreal Expos, Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, and now the Philadelphia Phillies. No trade deadline could possibly catch him by surprise. This year is no exception, though his Phillies aren't necessarily expected to be among the most active teams.

'Well, we've had three organizations, and multiple people from those organizations call us on veteran catchers,' he told Gelb. 'Call us. 'Hey, do you have interest in this guy?' Well, that's usually probably not a good sign, that they're trying to get rid of them. Rather than the opposite way where you're pursuing them.
