A person of interest is in custody after a Philadelphia police officer was critically injured in a shooting in Kensington Saturday night, police confirmed to CB

Today is a CBS 21 Weather Warn Day for high heat and the threat for strong to severe t'storms.S News Philadelphia. Philadelphia Police Commissioner Kevin Bethel and Mayor Cherelle Parker with authorities gave updates later Saturday.

During the live stop process, Bethel said officers were inventorying the car and they saw a male with a holster and he tried to leave the scene. When he left the location, Bethel said he fired three shots at the officer and the officer's partner returned fire. "At this point, we do not have any indication that he returned fire, we definitely know his partner did," Bethel said. "Today I ask the people across the city of Philadelphia to pray for our officer, and pray for the men and women who are here today who were out in the field knowing they were going to give their lives for this job."
