“It was the same when he was captaining Aberdeen’s Under-18s against our boys. When I went to Kelty he was someone I was desperate to get. It helped that Stephen Glass and Scotty were in charge at Pittodrie. You just trust your eye and your instincts. “We had a team that dominated the ball. I wanted him to thrive on that. Sometimes he’d be a little careless on the ball but he had the capacity to win it straight back.
