The Department for Work and Pensions has announced it is making changes to the date of the third cost of living payment. The money is for people on means-tested benefits like Universal Credit.
The third payment, of the £900 money, is due to be paid in the spring of next year, although no confirmed dates have been announced. However, in a new update, the £299 payment is due to be paid before spring 2023 meaning it could arrive before March 20.Chancellor Jeremy Hunt is expected to indicate what, if anything, has been decided when he delivers the Autumn Statement on November 22.
Figures show 423,000 households were excluded from last year's cost of living payments because their earnings were too high to get Universal Credit during the qualifying period. The second payment will be paid by the HMRC.
