DWP Universal Credit payment dates for Easter and bank holidays

The Department for Work and Pensions is set to move a number of benefit payments - including Universal Credit - over the coming days and it's all to do with the long Easter weekend.

People who receive Universal Credit from the DWP usually know exactly when their money should arrive - but as the government department does not issue payments on bank holidays, some people may receive their cash on different days. This year Easter falls on Sunday, March 31. This means that Good Friday falls on March 29, making this day a bank holiday - along with Easter Monday on April 1.READ MORE: UK tourists with holidays to Spain and Turkey warned of April deadline

Universal Credit payments due on March 29 or April 1 should instead land in bank accounts on Thursday, March 28. Benefits are also not paid on weekends, so if your payment date falls on the Saturday or Sunday, you will receive the cash on March 28 also.It can be useful to know when your DWP payments will arrive so you can budget accordingly.
