People who claim Universal Credit who have children are being handed a boost worth as much as £1,310 per year after a DWP change taking effect from this Monday.
People with two kids will get more than people with one child, and those with more than two children will still get the extra benefits, but they won't get more than people with two children.The DWP is making the change to help people who claim Universal Credit for childcare costs. It is part of an 'uprating' of various benefits being paid to people, which the DWP has confirmed in writing will take effect from Monday, April 8.
The government stressed that unlike other benefits it isn't legally obligated to increase the Childcare Costs Universal Credit benefit in line with inflation, but is doing so for April 2024-25 anyway.
